At 11:00 a.m. arrive at the world-renowned David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Elephant Orphanage, where you’ll witness firsthand the incredible work being done to rescue and rehabilitate orphaned elephants. During the feeding hour, you’ll watch these adorable young elephants being bottle-fed by their caretakers and playing in the mud. The orphanage provides a heartwarming and educational experience, offering insights into the conservation and rehabilitation process for elephants who have lost their families due to poaching or human-wildlife conflict. You’ll learn about the trust’s efforts to release rehabilitated elephants back into the wild, a vital part of elephant conservation in Kenya.

After your visit to the orphanage, enjoy a relaxing lunch break at a local restaurant, the meal will offer a chance to rest and recharge after the morning’s adventures. The restaurant options provide a variety of flavors and dietary preferences to ensure you have a satisfying meal.

Time: 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

After lunch, head over to the nearby Giraffe Center, a sanctuary dedicated to the preservation of the endangered **Rothschild giraffe**. Here, you’ll have the rare opportunity to interact closely with these majestic creatures. From a raised feeding platform, you can feed the giraffes and even receive a playful giraffe “kiss” as they delicately take food from your hand. The center also provides a chance to learn about the giraffe breeding program and the ongoing efforts to protect their habitats in Kenya. As you exit the Giraffe Center, there is an optional visit to the Kobe Beads, where you can witness the beautiful craftsmanship of handmade beads and pottery created by local women. It’s a great place to purchase authentic souvenirs, including jewelry, ornaments, and home décor, supporting local artisans.
